Financial Woes
I hate banks. I really do. They are all the same too. I get Capitalism…but banks and their fees are pure greed at it’s finest. Let me explain…
I got paid a week ago. Most of it went to rent so I had a few pennies to my name but I had enough to go out still. Friday night, I go out with some friends and proceed to spend $55.09 at the bar. That includes the waitresses tip. Well the waitress runs my card twice, once for $48.09 (pre-tip) and then again for $55.09 (tip included). The $55.09 didn’t show up and clear until yesterday so I was under the assumption that the $48.09 would just clear Monday. Well it hasn’t cleared but it’s still pending on my account. When the waitress ran my card twice, it deducted $103.18 from my account. Because the bar charged me twice, I went on spending another $30 or $40 bucks that weekend. Little did I know, this was going to bite me in the ass.
I get an email today from Bank of America saying I’m being charged FOUR insufficient funds fee of $35 a piece. Four because I used my cards four more times AFTER the $103.18 was deducted without me knowing. So essentially my account has been overdrawn since Saturday but it didn’t show up online until Monday.
I call BOA and they said they can “probably” waive the fees once they clear tonight, all $140 of them. So I have to call back tomorrow. I proceed to call the bar I went to on Friday night and ask them whats up. The manager takes no blame for his incompetent worker and says the $48.09 will reverse most likely tomorrow. So until then Bank of America is charging me. I would go and put money in the account BUT with the fees clearing, it would be pointless and I don’t want to risk losing money when it wasn’t my fault. I mean really…I know how much money I have in my account. I check it every day but this completely blindsided me this morning!
It’s a sucky situation because you don’t know how many times a waitress runs your card until you check online. I’ve had this happen to me three or four times before. If the server would just slow down and LOOK at what they were doing, they wouldn’t be making these careless mistakes.
