Nash Bridges

From about 1997-1999, I was in love with Nash Bridges aka Don Johnson. Every day at noon on WGN, I get to experience a blast from the past with reruns of Nash Bridges. I love the cheesy one liners and the music. Oh…and did I mention how hot he was?! I say “was” because he’s old and fat now.

Vegas anyone?

July 2-5th for not only the Fourth of July but also for the World Series of Poker!!!

Stitches are out

I will most likely have a faint scar. The doc said to keep putting neosporin or Vitamin E on it.

Stitch free is the way to be!

“Jane Doe”

Nice, heartwarming story about “Jane Doe”.

Update on my head

My wound is healing nicely. I’ll post some pics below. I get my stitches out on Tuesday, woohoo! I keep neosporin on it to help reduce any scar like activity that might appear afterwards. Plus it keeps the infection out. It still kinda hurts and the area is tender to touch. I can’t sleep on that side of my head either, which bugs.

I’m kinda having eye spasms in my right eye, which may or may not be related to my fall. lol I’m going to ask about that tomorrow.

More of an update to come on Tuesday!

Funding

So apparently graduate school is expensive. I looked into financial aid and it was pretty much non-existent. I did my fafsa a month ago and it said my EFC was $5,000! I made $23,000 last year after taxes yet I’m still responsible for $5,000 worth of education! INSANE! I thought because I only had to put my income and not my parents that my EFC would have been lower. Guess I was wrong!

I’m applying for a scholarship from the Bryce Harlow Foundation. It would come out to about $6,000 a year, which would cover two classes plus books. Better than nothing. Tomorrow, I’m going to look for some more scholarships but I doubt I could receive any in time for summer classes. Looks like Tierra is going to be taking out some student loans!

Fantastic Day

Yesterday I received my acceptance letter to Johns Hopkins University. I’m pretty stoked to be accepted into their Masters of Govt program. After I take 5 classes, I’m eligible for the joint MA in Govt/MBA program. Because it’s a part time program, I’m able to keep a 40 hour a week job, which is a must because it’s $2500 a class and I would need 11 of them for the MA and 23 for the MBA!

So all in all, I’m pretty excited.

Last night, we have friends over to celebrate St. Patty’s Day. Of course, I was THAT person to ruin a great evening of fun with an injury. I hit my head on the corner of the door frame in my hall and end up in the ER. It wouldn’t stop bleeding so my friends were concerned. Luckily, I live 3 blocks away from George Washington University Hospital. ;)

After 3 hours in the ER, I walk out with 6 blue stitches. I have to go back in 7 days to get them removed. The most painful part was the shot I had to get in my head to numb the wound so she could put stitches in!

All in all, I still consider it a pretty good day! I got some great news, had some fun last night with friends, and while there was a minor set back with the injury, it was late at night and everyone was ready to go home anyway. Right?!

Here are some photos of my injury.

Pre-stitches.

Wordle

A co-worker showed me this site and I thought it was cool. You plug in your blog URL and it creates an image of the words that you use the most. I thought mine was cool. Wordle.net

Back soon

I know I haven’t been updating regularly lately. I’ll be back soon though…hold tight. :)

DC Tourists, please pay attention.

When visiting DC, there needs to be some sort of tourist etiquette. After all, you are a visitor and things I’m sure, are a bit different from where you are from.

1. When riding the metro, let people get OFF the train before you enter. Besides annoying, this is flat out rude.

2. When riding the escalators, stand on the RIGHT. People like to walk up the left.

3. Don’t stop in the middle. Whether that be the middle of the sidewalk, middle of the escalator, middle of WHATEVER. “Washingtonians” live a fast lifestyle. All you’re doing is getting in the way.

4. Don’t buy Obama crap from street vendors. These guys most likely AREN’T paying taxes so just go to the mall and support the economy by buying your glittered Obama beanie there.

5. Lastly, don’t be afraid to ask for help or directions. Besides our busy and fast lifestyle, we certainly don’t mind helping you out. Trust me, it makes it easier on us if you ask rather than just get in our way.

That’s my Friday rant people. Have a great weekend!
