I want to take a trip.

Don’t care when. Don’t care where. I just want to go.

Bark Bark

This morning on my walk to metro, I was barked at. By a homeless man. The church near my apt does a free breakfast every morning for homeless people so they usually hang out in front afterwards. I usually get a “Good Morning” by one of the men but this morning I got a “Good Morning” and a “Bark bark bark”. Kinda made me jump but definitely made me laugh after.

Soccer and sunny weather

Overall, it was a lazy weekend. Friday night, Luis and I went to this really great Italian restaurant called Pasta Mia in Adam’s Morgan. It’s super authentic and a great little restaurant. After dinner, it was only 8 pm, we decided to hit up a couple bars for happy hour. 4 hours later, we cab it home.

Saturday morning I had soccer try outs for this all women’s league. I had played soccer for a good portion of my youth and wanted to get back into it. I signed up to be on a division 3, recreation team, because I haven’t touched a soccer ball in at least 3 years and I just wanted it to be fun without the competitive nature. Realistically, I’m sure with a little practice, I could easily play on the division 1 team. I did so well at the try outs, the organizer asked if I wanted to be a Team Captain on a new D3 team. I say sure! The team is going to be mixed up with people who have played before and with people who have never played before. I’m quite excited to be leading this team with two other girls who volunteered to help out. (I don’t have a car so I needed people who could transport equipment.) Our first game won’t be until the first weekend of April but that will give us time to get organized and have a few practices. Updates to come on this.

Sunday was the longest day of my life. Because of the time change, I actually got up earlier than I normally would have and did my Sunday routine: clean and laundry. I was done with all that by 1 pm and was bored the rest of the day. I was so bored that I accidentally fell asleep on the couch for two hours AFTER I ran out of things on DVR to watch.

Oh and let’s talk about the weather. It snowed 6 inches last week. Come Friday, it was in the low 60s and low 70s the rest of the weekend! I almost feel like Spring is actually going to happen in DC this year! Last year, it was cold all the way up until May and then became hot as hell once June hit. Fingers crossed on this one.

Time to start another work week. I really have a bad itch to go to Vegas…I just want to be outside in beautiful weather and tan!

Salads

Today was a bad food day for Tierra. I started out with a vanilla activa yogurt and proceed not to eat anything until lunch. For lunch, Will and I met up with Hilary at Good Stuff. I resisted the KILLER huge I had to order a burger and instead got a chicken salad. 1. It had too much dressing 2. It just wasn’t good. I eat it anyway and proceed with the rest of my life.

I get home to realize that I was going to eat salad again for dinner. Hoping that it was going to be better, I deal with it and begin to make what looked delicious. Sigh. Disappointed again. It just wasn’t good. Again.

I realize the root of my disappointment today, besides the dressing, was the iceberg lettuce. It’s gross. I think it will be tolerable once I add bacon and cheese but it’s not.

Lesson of the day: if you have a disappointing meal, be sure to make it up at the next one.

Mystery solved!

Gentlemen, read up! Scientists have figured out where belly button lint comes from!

“Abdominal hair is mainly responsible for the accumulation of navel lint,” proclaims Steinhauser in the abstract to his paper, presented in the online version of the journal Medical Hypotheses. “Therefore, this is a typically male phenomenon. The abdominal hair collects fibers from cotton shirts and directs them into the navel where they are compacted to a felt-like matter.”

The more you know!

No Joke!

Alright weather man…I’ll give you this one. He wasn’t joking about that “massive snow storm”. I wake up to at least 6 inches of snow. AT LEAST! It’s suppose to continue snowing until this afternoon.

No matter how many times it snows, this California girl will never get used to it!

Delay of game

Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve posted. This last week was busy and chaotic with CPAC in town. For those who aren’t familiar, CPAC is basically a 3 day convention of conservative speakers hosted by the ACU. This year there was record attendance and it was noticeable. The CRNC is a co-sponsor so I was busy running around doing different things for college republicans. Consequently, I have come down with a bit of a cold from not only the crappy weather but also the lack of sleep. I’m happy it is over but sad to see friends leave and go back to their home states.

I’m looking to catching up on all the tv I missed last week. (Mainly LOST and Flip this House.) Can’t forget that tonight is Amazing Race and United States of Tara.

Side note: DC is suppose to be hit with a “massive snow storm” in the next 12 hours. WE SHALL SEE!
