Soccer Saturday

So this last weekend I had a soccer game on the National Mall. It was SUPER HOT. Like 90 degrees plus some godforsaken humidity. We ended up tying 2-2 but yours truly had one of the goals! Go me!

Back to the grind. I’m jetsetting West next week for a super short trip to LA to handle some things. I won’t have time to see anyone but I’ll be back in the 760 May 20-25th!

Sept. 18, 1999–the day ebay came into my life.

When I was young, I was quite the entrepreneur. Being a Backstreet Boy fan, I always went to the concerts and collected the merchandise. I learned at an early age the basics of conducting business by opening an ebay account. I used to buy and sell 4×6 candid photos of the Backstreet Boys. There was a HUGE market for this kind of swag. I’d go to a concert, take over 100 pictures, get multiple prints made, and sell each for anywhere from $1-$5 per picture. People would then mail me a check or a cashiers check and I would mail the goods. This is how business was done on ebay BEFORE paypal came along. I did this for a few years and found it as being a great way of having some money. Mind you, I was 13 when I opened my ebay account. (Proof below.) I was on ebay before it was popular. Before it had all these fees. I was buying and selling on ebay when it was actually a good deal. Now a days, I steer clear of the site but can’t convince my brother or mom to do so.

Last night, I get a call about my brother needing a replacement concertina accordion because his broke. He plays in an Irish band so this is a fairly big deal. He finds this accordion on ebay and I’m already pessimistic. I haven’t bought or sold much on ebay in the last two years because they nickel and dime you for everything. Not to mention, I don’t have time to wait around a computer to bid on something like I did when I was 13 years old. Yes folks, repeat…I was on ebay at 13 years old. I set an alarm on my phone to remember to bid on the damn thing closer to the auction end date. I see there is a reserve price, which is never a good thing. I email the seller and they inform me the reserve price is $425. I’m like, “Todd is out of his mind if he thinks I’m going to front $425 for this.” I proceed to place at bid at $250 and end up being the highest bidder. But because the seller reserves the right not to sell the item before the reserve price, I’m not sure if they will accept my offer. So if they do, I’ll be shelling out $250 for my kid brother to continue playing in his band. Mom and Dad if you’re ready this, a little help would be great because we all know Todd doesn’t have any money! Needless to say, update to come on this…

Below is the proof of my entrepreneurial spirit. Had I stuck with it, I may have been a millionaire today. Instead I work for a political non-profit fighting to live above the poverty line. :)

Chicken Tetrazzini

Just when you think these day time talk shows can’t get any worst, Maury finds a way to spin that your lover is cheating on you because of food.

I don’t even know what chicken tetrazzini is!

Nats game

I’m going to the Nats vs Marlins game this Saturday. I’m super sad to have planned it where I miss playing with my “Motorcade” girls but the weather is expected to be in the 70s, which is awesome baseball weather! Let’s hope the Nats can break their 0-7 losing streak!

Go figure…

CNN Reporter is hostile to a tea party supporter.

Last time I checked, this was a NON-PARTISAN event.  Oh and Lady? CHANGE YOUR HAIR STYLE. THIS ISN’T THE 90s.

Update: Part two of the CNN “Investigative” reporting incident. Go suburban mom!

And it’s Monday again.

This morning I had an appointment to see an Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor. I’ve had tonsilitis a few times this year and keep getting those nasty tonsils stones. Homeboy hooked it up with some antibiotics to try out for a week. He said they most likely won’t work and that I’ll need to get my tonsils removed. Yaaayyyy. The problem is that being an adult, the recovery is much more harsh than when you’re a kid. He told me to make sure it’s in a “slow time” for work. That “slow time” for me just passed from Jan-March. Maybe I’ll be able to get it done in June but we’ll see.

My soccer team and I had our second game on Saturday. We lost 1-0 but I feel like we are improving. Below are some photos from our team photographer, Luis E. Murguia. :)

Super busy week

I’ve been dragging on updating again and I apologize. I’ve had a super busy week. Tonight I had soccer practice and tomorrow night I’m meeting up with an old friend. I have soccer on Saturday and hopefully can relax on Sunday!

I kinda miss him

Former Pres. Bush got a standing ovation when he threw out the first pitch yesterday. Biden also threw the first pitch yesterday in Baltimore. Bush did a waaaayy better job.

Weekend Update

Semi busy weekend for Tierra.

Friday night, went to dinner at Buca and had an early evening.

Saturday, I had my first soccer game. I joined a women’s league in DC and there are 9 games. I volunteered to help start a new team for the league and it has certainly kept me busy. We ended up losing on Saturday 6-1. Some would say we got our asses handed to us but it actually wasn’t that bad. Half of our team has never played soccer before and our goalie didn’t show up. Not to mention the wind was horrible. The other teams in our league have played together for years so I feel confident after some practice playing together, we will be able to put a few “W”s on the board.

Saturday afternoon, I went to the Cherry Blossom Festival with Luis. It was a super nice day weather wise, minus the wind. Tons of people were out and it was a nice afternoon. Caught an early dinner at Matchbox and went home. I fell asleep early because I was exhausted.

Sunday, I woke up and was barely able to move. I should have stretched after the game yesterday but didn’t and now regret it. I also broke down and got a tanning package again. I feel like the UV isn’t strong enough yet to tan and I want to have a good base going into summer. Plus I look ghostly white in all the pictures taken this week.

That was my weekend in a nut shell. Tomorrow I have a dentist appointment. I’m excited. I love going to the dentist.
